Hmmmm....well.....I just looked in the yearbook, and it shows the fastest 
time and the last finishers time on the LD rides.  That would be a good 
place to start, and then pick an average time (between the two) to see what 
kind of pace most of the riders went at.

Of course, that wouldn't apply in this ride, since it was a new one.

If you're going to do your first ride then it might be good advice to stick 
with an established ride that is known for it's finishing times.  I 
actually think a more difficult ride is better to start with (then 
everything seems easy after that) <G>.  Seriously though, your horse is 
better off if he's putting his energy into going over hills and mountainous 
terrain than if he's watching 50 horses gallop straight down a flat road.
