Thanks for the positive comments about LD....they seem to be received
better coming from you!  :)  I think you are probably right about horses
being ready to do 50s before we are!  My older daughter has agreed to ride
a couple of 50s next year...we have a lot of work to do before then.  I
heard myself telling her all those little tricks I heard here on
ridecamp...break it up into pieces, take it one vet check at a time
(actually have a friend who made a sweatshirt that says "I take life one
vet check at a time"), etc.  But what I found out about doing 50s for me
was doing them with someone.  I am sure I will still have times when I do
50s alone but I sure wish I had started out either with a mentor or with
another newbie.  They seem so much easier when there is someone there with
you... the horses seem to help keep each other motivated and when all else
fails we sing to them (Grandma's Feather Bed is my personal favorite).  I
don't know if they pick up the pace because they like our singing or to
hurry up and get the ride over with!!  :)
