Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Uh-Oh! The LD thing again

I DO ride 50s. Have done 4. That makes me a newbie. Next year, our
stallion will start out on 25 LD for his first year and perhaps go to a
fifty later in the season. Yes, it IS preparation for the horse. Still, I
admire the effort and sacrifice that some who are only ABLE (for whatever
reason) to ride 25 LD and would never disrespect them by telling them they
are not a true endurance rider...someone pointed out to me earlier (don't
know if it was a private post or on RC) that perhaps the distinction we
need to make is between the "rides" and not the "riders" themselves. True
endurance riders sometimes ride 25 LD though that distance is not perhaps a
true endurance distance (by definition 50 - 100 miles), it doesn't make the
LD rider any less of an endurance rider...hope that came out the way I
wanted it to...someday (hopefully a far, far away day) 25 LD may be all
that you or I will be capable of riding in an endurance manner (as opposed
to riding CTR). It won't mean that we aren't endurance riders. I guess
what it all boils down to is that 25 LD is useful in many ways for
different purposes depending on the horse AND the rider. Hopefully, we
will use the opportunity wisely.
