Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Uh-Oh! The LD thing again

Maggie, you are not a newbie. You have done your homework and take care of
your horse. (sounds like it anyway) You have been there and done that. I
am alarmed by stories such as Howards, where winning is the most important
thing. Playing the game safely and sanely and to the horses best ability
without OVER stressing it is/or should be the ultimate goal. If that
results in a first place then great job. If that means a last place, then
it is still a great job. I still stand by my opinions that Limited
Distance competition is preparation for endurance riding. There is a world
of difference between a 25 miler and a 50 miler. Most any horse that is
ridden on a regular basis can get thru a 25 miler. Not so for a 50. You
say that you are riding 20+ miles as workouts. That is super. Why are you
not riding longer distances on the rides? If those of us who view LD as
practice and training rides are to be considered arrogant, then so be it.
