RE: Saddle fit for high withered horse

As long as the tree width is ok, you can use shims
to raise the back of your saddle. Skito makes a saddle
pad with foam inserts (velcro openings in the pad cover)
and you can slip extra shims in the pad whereever you
need the lift. I have one horse with a downhill back
(lower behind the whithers, higher at the loins) -
I shim the front to lift the saddle. Another horse with a very
short back, I shim the middle to keep the saddle from
bridging. Another horse that is very narrow behind
the whithers - so I use the front shims to take up
the space and keep the saddle from sliding down and
back. Lots of flexibility - as long as the tree isn't
too narrow, that's really the only thing that shims
don't help with.

Does anybody have advice on a saddle to fit a high AND wide withered horse
whose back is more flat? I'm having trouble with saddles pressing on my
guys
loins cuz they all ride uphill (higher at pommel ) on him.

Thanks,
Teresa & Grey (is there a saddle out there that would be truly comfortable
for
me?)
