At this point, all of who were not there (myself included) do NOT know many
things:
 
1) How much time/distance was there from the point where they could first see
the truck blocking their path?

2) What options (places to go to avoid running into the truck) did they have?

3) Could they see the person who was run down?  

4) Was he standing still or moving?

Without knowing this (and more) we are in NO place to judge the riders!!!!!
