Re: RC: RE: Endurance and CTR

Truman,
I think you have a point. I was always afraid to even try endurance with
Suni because he was crazed watching horses walk away from the start every 30
seconds and, you're right, he bonded to the horse in front until he passed
him and realized there was another in front of that horse. However, I have
never understood how people can get their horses to wait quietly for ten
minutes after a yahoo start with 20-80+ other horses. At one CTR ride which
had been timed much too slow for us, I had planned to stay in camp during
the lunch break to let everyone get a 20-30 minute start on us. The horses
left in groups of 2-3, at a walk, about 100 yards from where Suni was tied
to his own trailer with his riding buddy. Sun nearly pulled the trailer
over trying to leave with the rest.
So anyway, long story. I want to do endurance with Fox, so I'd love to know
the secret of a quiet start.
