Hi - I know this isn't purely an endurance question, but I'll be brief, and maybe those that can respond can do so privately. My new gelding is Crabbett-bred, and his pedigree has names on it that I don't recognize (but I don't know much about Arabian breeding, either). I was hoping some of you breeding gurus out there could tell me something about these bloodlines. He is by a stallion called Ras Royal Magic (Silvern Magic x Royal Heiress) and out of a mare called MC Bint Nizila (Ras Royal Bay x Lewisfield Nizila). On the next level back (both male and female lines) is a stallion called Al Marah Ibn Oran and a mare called Shaybet (seems there is a lot of line breeding in this pedigree). The fourth generation back has horses called Oran, Silver Magic, Silver Vanity, Risseefa, Radeyra, Blue Domino, Indian Magic, and Silent Wings (among others). The prefix AHSB is on some of these names, and many GSB's as well. His breeder calls this English/Crabbett breeding, as opposed to what she called "Raffles" breeding. Does anyone have any background on this? He's a nice 5 yr. old gelding, who I hope will make a good endurance horse. He's 14.3, very sturdy with big feet and nice, solid legs. He's short-backed, with good loins and a rounded croup - definitely not a show ring Arab - looks much more like a working horse. He has a very long stride and is a forward mover with a good mind. Does anybody out there have a horse with similar breeding? Thanks in advance.
