ringbone

Our older mare was diagnosed with ringbone several years ago. She had
arthritis as well. We were told that there is no treatment for ringbone,
also that it is hereditary. Cosequin and/or Adequan might help arthritis,
but will not help ringbone. We took her to another vet in the city whose
specialty was soundness. He confirmed that there was ringbone and that there
was no treatment, not even surgically. Our daughter, whose mare it is, is
now in college, pre-vet and pre-med. She is interested in finding out why
they can't do surgery on it. I hope she finds a cure! The mare is now 22 and
out to pasture. Even in the pasture she limps at the trot. Wish I could give
you more encouraging news.
