I am currently using Easy boots on my barefoot mare.  Check out Karen
Chaton's website on easyboot use & application.  It is:

I put the boots on if I'm going to ride in rough terrain or do some
trotting, then take them off after the ride.  On slow rides on decent
ground, she stays barefoot.  My plan is to use the easyboots as I have
been & always at a ride.

This mare has very good feet & wears evenly, but I am watching closely
for too much wear & may decide to go back to shoes in the future.  Will
use the easy boots then too as I do think they take up some shock in
addition to 
protecting the soles.
