Re: RC: Human injuries

I had my meniscus removed June 10, about 4 weeks ago. Rode Kaboot 10
miles June 19. (rode ponies bareback on the 17th) Rode 22 miles after
about 3 weeks. Am biking up to 12 miles. Plan a 50 next week. I
recommend the surgery.

I had to go in yesterday for my post-op check-up. My meniscus tear was
called a "bucket handle" (how appropriate) and they have a tendency to
flip up and get caught in the joint. That's what was happening. It had
made a mess out of the inside of my kneecap over the last few years, and
they'd had to clean that up. Read up on knees and decide whether the
loose stuff in there is liable to do more damage if left inside. The
surgery was arthroscopic, and didn't even require stitches.

Another bonus to surgery was that they gave me a really cool iceboot
that I've already used on the horses. :-) Tell them you don't own any
crutches either. I got some nice new aluminum ones to replace my old
wooden clunkers.
