When you get the dose in the horses mouth, immediately walk him and keep
his head up at the same time. I learned to do that with mine when I worm
them and it works really well. Otherwise, they will keep the stuff in
their mouth and drop it out later.

I have also found that depending upon which horse, I have to dose them
depending upon the situation. One I do before he drinks, makes him less
pissy that way. The other one I can do after he drinks. The key is just
knowing what is right for each one of them (and of course being sure ahead
of time that the one is going to drink before I give him the syringe).

Once one of them gets food in his mouth (say at an hour hold), then I may
as well forget it. I won't even try dosing him until we are ready to leave
again -- to do so will just cause him to lose most of it (since his mouth
has food in it already), and cause him to pout and get an attitude about
the whole thing.
