No names mentioned, but you guessed it.. they were new to endurance. As in - 
NO CLUE- I  I rode with the dad on one loop.  He just heard about this 
"endurance thing", bought an arab out of someones back yard and decided to 
give a try.  He mentioned something about the wife being sick, so they went 
to a hotel in town. BTW,  before you send this guy "telepathic flames"  he 
bought the horse in the Smokies, had been ridden in the Smokies, and he 
continued to train in the Smokies.  After the ride, I saw them vet-in, the 
horse looked good, rider looked very tired, he definately needed more 
conditioning!
