RE: Re: LD's training to move up

Of course you would never think that there would be any racing in 100's
would you!! Consider the sub-ten hour hundreds you see once in a while and
figure that there is not a comparable race?

Remember these are horses and not baby toys. If they can do it let them do
it. All this concern for "All A's" on the report card. Hell, you cannot move
up with our stress and stress is not reflected in continuous "A's". Please
realize these are animals created to go the limit and then recover. Where
the limit is we do not know.

No matter that we call it Endurance Riding the actuality is that it is
Endurance RACING!! Other wise we would not have placings and believe me
folks all competitors want to know how they placed and how far ahead or
behind they were. Some deny it but I don't believe them for a moment.

Hi Angie
I agree. I did not want to start a LD vs debate
All I was trying to say was that not all 25 riders are racers and but some
50's are.
And some of us LD'ers do work hard at conditioning our horses and can safely
run a 25 in 2-2 1/2 hrs. And as well we probably could go do a slow to
medium
paced 50 safely. But to say that a LD is nothing but a race does not really
hold true to a lot of us.
And, granted, there is a lot more to getting a horse and rider ready for a
50
as well as actually doing the ride, there is no question about that. I just
think that maybe once in awhile maybe someone should question the motives of
some of the 50 racers and well as the LD racers. I really do not think that
the racing problem is just with the LD'ers. Well I have probably said too
much already.
Hope I do not get flamed too much with this.

Bill
