RE: Rein attachments - followup

Thanks for all the responses to my questions about scissor snaps and my
unnerving experience with one opening unasked.
 Is
there any reason why I should not just forget the snaps and run the rope
reins through my eggbutt snaffle, using the conway buckles to secure the
reins?

[Karen Sullivan] YES! You could have some sort of emergency (horse bogged down in mud, rein caught around leg) where you would QUICKLY want to unsnap the reins. I don't think I have ever had my bolt snap reins come undone. On the other hand, you REALLY need rein stops if you are using a martingale with scissor snaps. Otherwise the rings will run right up and unsnap the reins!
