My mother, Nancy Nemec (a famous printmaker and former distance rider)
also did a more serious "homage" to this painting - an etching/engraving
- called "Drinkers of the Wind".  The three horses were actually ones
that we had at the time, and were our first "distance" horses!

For what it's worth.

Glad to know more about the original.
