Re: RC:  breeds in endurance
My opinion about Morgans is that they were bred for duration, not 
speed.  Any time I top tenned a ride, it was because I outlasted the 
others, not because I passed them.  They are tough to beat when it 
comes to tough terrain.  The biggest problem they have is dumping 
heat.  I have poured water on my Morgan on cold, rainy days, the 
heart monitor telling me what I need to do.  I don't think it has 
anything to do with being thinskinned.  Morgans were selected as 
trotting and pulling horses, not fast, long distance horses (as were 
Arabs).  No amount of training can undo a hundred generations of 
that.
