I fully agree.  The problem is that chain letters and virus warnings
usually come from newbies who think they're doing something nice.

We'll never stop them on an unmoderated list, but it may help if every
new subscriber got an introductory letter pointing out that virus
warnings and chain letters are inappropriate on the list.
