Re: RC: Riding with Loose Horses (was HELP)

Hi Barbara - am curious - how long have  you been playing "chase the horse" games?  Have you noticed any difference at all with catching individual horses from the pasture after doing this (either better or worse)?  I am not surprised at all about seeing dominance changes.  Seems like most any interaction humans have with horses affects that - and certainly just riding a horse will change dominance - usually up, from what we've observed.

An important point here - since it sounds like these all your own horses -  If anyone else was wanting to try this, but didn't own all the horses in the pasture, I would strongly suggest (sorry if it seems obvious, but still...) making sure all the horses' owners agreed that it was OK to play the "chase the horsie" game.

I got the feeling that Devony might not be at that level of communication with her horse where she could do what you do yet.  Could be wrong about that, just my feeling.  So I still wouldn't recommend it for her, but it does sound like fun, and I might try it with my own horses - on those lazy days where I don't even want to open the gate and leave my property!  Lif
