It's called "sugardine".  I've got an article about it an a farrier's
journal.  The sugar literally "feeds" the cells in the area and helps
them grow quickly to heal the wound.  Seems like in the article I had it
was used to help heal a deep split in a hoof quickly.  A nurse friend
said she'd seen Drs. use it.  Sounds disgusting, looked it too.
