I have no ideas about repellents, but I am wondering how much a
problem Lyme disease has been in horses. Last year I removed dozens
of wood ticks from my horse [which now also carry Lyme in our area],
and saw even more deer ticks on her. The deer ticks had not yet
bitten and were still crawling on the hair, so I brushed them off.
I assume many had attached themselves which I could not see. I am
seriously considering having her tested for Lyme. We, in the
Northeast, have had incredible increases in human Lyme incidence. Is
this becoming something people are testing for in Lyme-infested
areas?
