Thoroughpins

I was wondering if any of the vets or endurance riders on ridecamp have had any experience with thoroughpins on endurance horses.  I just noticed one on my 8 year old purebred Arab with 1110 AERC miles.  He did 600 miles last year and after his last ride at the end of November I pulled his shoes and turned him out with my other horses for a well deserved vacation.  I had him shod in January and have been riding him lightly with a 50 planned in April.  As I was brushing him to ride on Saturday I noticed puffyness on both sides of the groove above his hock on one rear leg.  A visit to the vet yesterday confirmed that it was a thoroughpin and ultra sound found no damage to any tendon.  He isn't lame at all as we did flexion tests and lunged both directions.  My vet, who knows I ride endurance, said to keep riding him and that this would be considered a blemish.   Just interested in any vet experiences and opinions out there.

Thanks,
