Info about the Spirit Bridle:
I'll try to make this short. Yes I have
tried the Spirit Bridle and I have talked
with one of the people who is promoting
it.
The Spirit Bridle is a bitless bridle
which works off pressure points on the
horses head. It's design is identicle
to the "Be Nice" Halter. The BeNice
halter's patent ran out in 1997, and
there have been a few halter's and
bridles on the market in 1998 which are a
take-off on this design.
The Spirit Bridle has about the same control as a snaffle IMO.
There is one main draw back to the design.
Because the throat latch criss-crosses
under the chin, the angle it drops from
the crown causes it to pass over the
nerves that run along the side of the
horses cheek. These are the ones
that control the lips and nostrils.
I rode one of my horses in the thing in fast company, and had to pull on him
quite a bit. The straps that crossed
over these facial nerves left an impression in his cheek.
I don't think pressure over these particluar nerves is a good thing at all.
This is not a feature the designers
of the Spirit Bridle thought of... IMO.
If some one wants to Email me privately (bpeck@together.net) I can probably answer other questions.. so as not to
clutter this list.
