help:irridescent urine & itchy butt

Hi All!
I'm beginning to get my new endurance hope out on the trails and I've
noticed 2 odd things about him. I can't imagine a more knowledgeable group
of people than y'all (sorry, my southern upbringing pops out every once in
a while!)so I'm asking for info.
Let me state first that to all appearances he is in perfect health other
than being undermuscled. He is a 6 yo ex-race horse (by Procent out of a
mare by Orzel).
	1. Both Sat. & Sun. I noticed that when he peed on the asphalt pavement
of the parking area it left an irridescent trail unlike all the other pee
stains I've ever seen. On Sat. my friend and I (not having seen him
pee)decided that it must be coolant or something else from a vehicle but I
watched him pee on Sunday so I know that he produced it. He is fed
alfalfa/oat pellets plus supplement based on Dr. Raemaker's formula and
wheat hay.
	2. During our Sunday ride, coming home down a boring, hot, steep trail, he
stepped to the side into the chamisa bushes and rubbed and rubbed and
rubbed then turned around and got his butt in the bush and rubbed some
more. After I stopped laughing and realized that I was covered with twigs
and other scratchy bits I got him back on the trail. When I got home I was
describing this to the wonderful man who feeds and cleans and generally
looks after the horses at the barn and he said that Blaze rubbs his butt on
the trees and bushes in the pasture. Could there be any significance to
this other than generally itchiness, especially when the summer coats are
coming out and the long furries growing in?
	Thanks for your input!
Laney
