To everyone that has been E-mailing and calling me regarding the LD rules, this is what was sent to me:

AERC voted to change the definition of a Limited Distance ride from the current definition of at least 25 miles, but not
exceeding 35 miles' to the new definition of a Limited Distance
ride as any ride less than 50 miles.

There are several ramifications from this new ruling, particularly
for those ride managers that offer novice or training rides in
addition to LD and Endurance events.

1. Any ride of less than 50 miles (including 10-15 mile training
or novice rides) which is held concurrent to a sanctioned ride
of 50 miles or greater must also be sanctioned.

2. Ride managers must pay AERC a starting rider fee for every
rider in every distance event.

 3. Riders must be an AERC member, or pay a $10 non-member fee for entry in every distance event.

4. Riders (AERC members) in all distance events of less than 50 miles will have their mileage recorded by AERC as LD mileage.

 5. All LD rides must have a minimum of one vet check - this now includes novice rides.

An additional change in the current LD/Endurance rule is that horses ntering rides of 35 miles or less must be at least 48 months at time of entry but horses entering rides of 36 miles or
more must be at least 60 months old at time of entry.
