Distance Induced mental retardation

>>There is a common disease that affects all endurance riders on
>occasion
>>(yes, even me!) called DIMR. (Distance Induced Mental Retardation)

Nick, I recognized an extreme case of this at a ride that I helped manage
recently. Since I knew that the disease subsides within hours of
competition, I ignored advice to verbally mutilate them, and simply
avoided the competitor for a few hours. I decided to not pass judgment on
their behavior until the disease had run its course...mainly because I
remember ALL TOO VIVIDLY a time when I missed a turn, got stressed and
said some things I hope nobody remembers.

Like you, the person recovered completely and followed me around
apologizing that evening and the next day...not to mention I received a
nice card. Won't be surprised if I get a Christmas card too.

Though nobody should use this as a license to be rude, it definately pays
to cut competitors some slack and not judge them while dehydrated, OD'd
on adrenaline and mentally and physically stressed. What's that they say
about "throwing the first stone?"
