torn suspensory

I've just found out that my horse has torn his suspensory ligament behind
his knee, in the carpal tunnel canal.
Has anyone ever had any success with return to soundness and full use from
this kind of an injury?

He's a 7 year old Arab gelding, who is NOT happy at all with stall rest-
he's circling all night long, to the point of blowing. Really wants to be
out with his friends (who did him in).
