2nd Annual Rocky Mountain Ride Awards



Greetings!
Congratulations to all the horses & riders that competed in the 2nd Annual
Rocky Mountain Ride 275 mile - 5 day event!  With each day going over
10,000' (one to 11,160') and the rocks & streams of our mountains, every
completion was well earned.

Five horse & rider teams completed all five days together:
        Best Condition:  Phyllis Arnold (MT) & RP Schatzi
        Runner-Up BC:  Sharon Dumas (NM) & OT Sundown
        3rd BC:  Denise Pfalmer (CO) & Opening Night

        1st Place:  Sharon Dumas (NM) & OT Sundown
        Runner-Up:  Phyllis Arnold (MT) & RP Schatzi
        3rd:  Denise Pfalmer (CO) & Opening Night
        4th:  Lynne Himmelreich (IA) & Red Rock Raastas
        5th:  Audrey Gehrig (WI) & Rushcreek Adam

Rothwell Ultimate Sportsmanship Award Winners:
        Dorothy Sue Phillips (MT) and Linnea Skoglund (CO-Ride Secretary)
Sturgeon-Front Range Exceptional Equestrians Courage Award Winner:
        Phyllis Arnold (MT)

Special mention to Phyllis Arnold (MT) & RP Schatzi, as they are the only
team to have completed all five days of the first two years of this ride!
Also special mention & thanks to Dianne Kuhn & the Midwest contingent
(Lynne, Candy, Connie, Audrey, Fred, Mary Lou, Dorothy, Ray, Albert, Chuck,
and their crews).  The "Dinted Hubcap" Award (given by the rig drivers)
goes, for the 2nd year, to Albert Steelman of Iowa!

* May 1-2:  11th Annual PAWNEE GRASSLANDS RIDE 25/50/100-30/50 and 15 mile
"Rookie" Ride (Briggsdale, Colorado).  Vets:  Ute Jung & ?

* August 2-6:  3rd Annual ROCKY MOUNTAIN RIDE 55/55/55/55/55 *Pioneer
        Event * (Monday-Friday; Arlington, Centennial and Mountain Home,
Wyoming &
           Gould, Red Feather Lakes, and Stove Prairie, Colorado - Each day
is a seperate
           event, and rig drivers are available - Pre-Registration deadline
is July 10th).  Vets:
           Barney Fleming & Ute Jung.

 ***All Pre-Registration deadlines are 10 days (postmarked) before the ride
unless otherwise noted; pre-registration deposit is $25.00 per day.
