Tevis, from a rider
We just got home...what a long day it's been (seems like three weeks rolled
into three days). We had a really nice ride, and I'll write about it when
I get a chance. Was really sorry to have so many friends and great horses
not complete....but was also very happy for the ones that did :). I think
Nick and I were both paranoid until we did both of our final vet thrus.
Weaver got treated to a massage this morning and is looking and feeling
quite well, happy at home (eating, as usual). I had the pleasure of riding
with Samm and Coujour, and watched them as they scaled up Cougar Rock
together. Coujour breezed up it as if it were a little bump in the road.
I'm sure their picture will turn out to be spectacular.
Why didn't anybody tell me that the suspension bridge actually SWINGS when
you go across it? Huh??!!!
Will get some real sleep now. I can quit "obsessing" now (as Lucy says, we
endurance riders are ALL obsessive!!).
Congratulations to all 121 riders who completed the ride this year! Those
horses are incredible, I can't believe that any of them can even move the
next day after what they go thru out on that trail.
Happy Trails,
Karen
in Gardnerville
& Dream Weaver, Tevis finisher '98 :-))
P.S. The skull does have some relevance. We won it at a ride earlier in
the year when Weav's number was #113. The same number he had at the Tevis.
It has brought us good luck all season!!
