Re: help with moonblindness

My mare also has moon blindness though I cought it early and watch her eyes
all the time. There is a lady, Mary Nelson, who has done tons of research on
the conditiion, actuallya notebook full. you can join the recurrent uvieties
network for $25.00 and receive a lot of information and current updates as
they happen. I belong, her address is 18 lake dr, Mendham, NJ 07945, phone
number is 201-543-4788. There is not cure, we all try to limit the episodes
to cut down the extent of vision loss. I have done a lot of different stuff.
I had my mare on asprin and optimune 2 X day every day for over a year. Last
winter I had her tested for alergies and we went through a treatment program.
About half way through the last bottle of the treatment I stopped because it
was causing a reaction in both of my horses eyes . I completly stopped all
meds, She has done great this summer, (no eye episodes). She does were a fly
sheet and hood when ever she is out, fly bites also seem to trigger episodes.
She also can not tollerate sunlite so she weres a "guardian mask" that has UV
protecition when I ride her or if she is outside with out her fly sheet and
hood, as in the winter. She wears a fly mask at all times if out of the barn.
The network is worth joining for all the info you receive. My vet also joined
because he was quite impressed with the info when he saw it.
