altitude adjustments

When you move a horse from about 2000' altitude to about 6000' altitude,
how long should you let him acclimate before starting light work? He's been
resting for almost three weeks prior to being moved to insure good health
and low stress for the move. Prior to the rest, he was both being ridden
and bred (he had quite a busy schedule :-).
