You know, all this talk of using vinegar in the rinse cycle of the washing
machine reminds me of it's use on horses!  I was a groom years ago for show
horses.  We used to use a dilution of vinegar in a bucket for the final
rinsing of tails.  The trainer believed it it's ability to remove any
residue of soap, thus ensuring the horse wouldn't itch and rub out that
"gorgeous" long Saddlebred tail!  Got tell you, it worked!  The horses were
comfortable and the tails remained unrubbed.
