No, you don't have to have an Arab.  There certainly have been successful
QH's.  You just have more homework to do getting the base on your horse, and
you may not be quite as competitive, but I have seen some people do fine with
QH's.  One of my favorites was an old stallion named Scotch and Soda, ridden
by Dot Wiggins from Idaho several years ago.  I think he earned over 2000
miles, and I know he did a few 100's in the process.
