Re: horse fell off mountain in CA?

If we're talking about the same event, a horse spooked and slipped off
the trail in Griffith Park a few days ago, a paint pleasure horse named
Phantom, not endurance. The horse and rider were both okay, but because
of the steepness of the bank and softness of the dirt, it was easier to
airlift the horse out than keep fighting an impossible uphill climb.

I used to board and condition in Griffith Park and recognized just where
the incident occurs---it happens every few years when someone isn't
paying attention and is riding too close to the edge. I don't think
anyone's ever been seriously injured except for embarassment and a few
scratches, but it always hits the evening news, because NBC is only
about three miles away.
