Great Truck Stop

O.K. -- to "atone" for having started the Weigh Station furor (which I am
glad I did, even if there appears to be little or no solution for us
"little" guys with 10,000 to 15,000 gross pickup plus trailers), I'd like
to sing the praises for the northern most Greencastle PA exit from I-81!

A week ago today, just in time to exit at Exit #3 for Greencastle, my
husband realized we'd flayed and frayed right rear trailer tire. We limped
into the truck stop (hope it's ok to use name "TravelPort"). On way in I
noticed STOCKYARDS!!! And a motel with Restaurant -- all within walking
distance.

There we were at 4:30 p.m.-- not only was the right rear tire history, so
were the bearings on the right front trailer axle -- AND with the heat that
had been generated, we weren't too happy with just "dressing the threads"
for repair.

The staff at TravelPort couldn't have been nicer -- helped us locate a
REAL trailer repair shop about 20 miles away --- meanwhile I'd gotten the
horses set up in calf pens at the stockyard (WAS MY MARE HAPPY!!! She's got
this POWER thing about cows).

Patched up with a good tire on Right Rear, off we went. Again Trailer
Express folks couldn't have been nicer -- found an axle at their supply (my
trailer's manufacuter didn't have any in stock!)

The rest of the story involves the generosity of a wonderful friend who
just happened to have a gooseneck trailer to lend so we didn't have to stay
at the stockyard to wait our trailer's repair, etc., etc. -- my point is to
say that the end diesel pump at the TravelPort is one of the small pick up
size ones and the folks at that exit should be remembered for their sincere
efforts to help!

Another point -- check the packing in your bearings even if only a couple
thousand miles have gone by!!! (Don't panic -- in our case there were a
couple of mitigating circumstances that wouldn't apply in all cases.)

Good and safe trailering!!!

Barbara
