On a flat sandy road (where actual miles could be taken) at the
last 20 miles of a 100 mile ride, CASH ran the last 20 miles at
an average speed of 20 miles per hour. Some horses just have it.

Personally:-)
Pharalina is the only one I've ever clocked.  At her normal speed,
no extra encouragement (except the run "Yeh Haw, let's race home):

Walk: 6 MPH
Trot: 10 MPH
Canter: 15 MPH
RUN: 18 MPH

While riding her, I've had horses outwalk her trot, and out trot her
canter.  It must be trained into the horse, but it can be done.
