Soaking definitely would help to prevent chokes with pellets, hay cubes, beet
pulp, etc. in the trailer.  The primary problem with finer products (as
opposed to flake hay) is that the horse can wolf them down rapidly, and get a
big plug stuck in his esophagus.  Lubrication helps to prevent this to a
degree.  If the horse is a "wolfer" I would sure make the mix as sloppy as
possible if you feel you must feed it in the trailer.
