The definition of an endurance ride.

All the posts on this hot topic have referred in some way to the hallowed
definition of an endurance ride. Somewhere, someone decided that 50 miles was
an endurance ride and anything less was just trail riding. Just who made this
determinaton? Did they ask the horse or the rider? My horse never tells me.
Way back in "The Golden Age of Endurance Riding" there were no HRM, IDEXX
blood machines, and advanced veterinary support to determine the health of the
animal.

So maybe we need to redefine just what constitutes an endurance ride. Sounds
to me like an arbritrary figure was picked and now it is etched in stone.
What if an endurance ride is really 63 miles or heaven forbid--only 47.5.
