Re: Hw vs Fw

Heidi,

I did my own "one rat experiment" in 96 when we went from the FL flatlands
to Utah for the ROC. We arrived about three weeks before the ride
toacclimate. A couple days after we arrived I took Misty up the big climb
to get on top and watched the HRM. This was after she had recovered from
the trailer ride but not acclimated to the altitude difference.

Her walking up the mountain with me on top her heart rate was running about
165! The next day I tailed her up and her heart rate was running about 85
to 90. Of course these rates came down by the time of the ROC.

Going down a steep mountain I get off and jog. That way I feel I can take
most of the stress off her legs and can make better time.

Truman & Misty who says "I'll take the altitude with 10% humidity over the
flat with 90% humidity any day."
