Re: Haflingers and endurance

Gail, Karen Clanin (who's on the list, but I suspect is out in her barn
kidding goats as we speak) has a half Halflinger/half Arab gelding named
Hooter, who I think is fantastic. His dam is also the dam of my beloved
Cato and also the dam of Shatir, Judy Houle's horse that top-tenned
Tevis ten times.

Hooter is built like a truck (and I mean that in the nice sense) but
really glides at the trot. He's still young, I think he's only five
this spring, but he has a wonderful temperament. We all did an LD last
year and he was super. Karen doesn't do 50's, but if she did, I would
think that Hooter would make a terrific completion horse. I think he's
probably too heavily muscled for really fast recoveries and top ten
finishes, but if you were looking for a horse to trundle up hill and
down dale all day and night, I think he's super.
