I would much prefer dogs in camp to protect people's stuff (oh gawd, don't
             open THAT discussion up again) than firearms.


Ditto....BUT, I have dogs and guns for the road, not the camp.  Travelling and having to stay at truck-stops, rest areas, etc...

Yes, I have training, YES, my gun is ALWAYS loaded.  BUT, I have never needed it,  When my dogs bark...predators go away!!!!

I am FOR dogs far more than guns.  Prevention is the key...
