Sorry for tagging on to your post Heidi, but all this discussion about
crabbing has me intrigued(sp).
I used to ride a stallion that would crab when ever he wanted to check out
his company.  He could crab to the left, he could crab to the right to get
a good look at who ever was coming up behind him.  He kept a close check on
everyone when we were riding in a group.  It was funny to watch him roll
his eye back to check it out, but a little strange to ride.<g>  He could do
this at any speed.
