When to start your up and coming??

Hi all,

I have a 15.1hh purebred arabian gelding that will be 
3yrs old in March of 99.  He is a good sized boy with
8" cannons.  I am having a hard time deciding whether
he should be started under saddle next year or should
I wait until he is four.  I have a wonderful 10yr experienced
mare that I am planning on riding for the 99 season.

Any help would be greatly appreciated I am not in a 
rush to start him.  Just want to do it properly and he is so
tall already I'm afraid by the time he is four he will be so
tall I may not get on.  (I'm only 5'1  116 lbs)  Have never
ridden such a tall horse before.
