I wonder about this too - My horse consistently avoided anything
that had a vitamin/mineral supplement (I can't remember the name
of the particular one I had used now, but it was one I bought at our local
feed store - it was from Ontario.) mixed in. The only time he ate it
was if it was mixed in
with grain or and the whole thing was wetted down so he couldn't
separate the powder supplement from the grain. The only time he
gets hay is in the winter and all summer he is on pasture whenever
I am not riding/training (mostly during the week). So the quantity of
grain I give him is relatively small anyway overall. So am I to
assume that he was getting all that he needed from the grass and
some grain, or is it just the supplement that didn't suit his tastes?
Lysane and Buck (AS IF I'm going to eat that powdery stuff!! Yuch!)
