GAGs

I have a horse who was seriously kicked on the medial aspect of his hock.
He is having surgery today to have a piece of necrotic bone removed. Once
this hurdle is past, I am afraid of arthritis because of all the trauma,
and I am considering starting him on some oral chondroitin sulfates and/or
glucosamines as a preventative measure. What do you all think? Before this
injury he had perfect hocks - textbook clean x-rays. Do you think the
supplements will help? Thanks, Vicki
