This is the attitude most non-wearers take. Sorry, I don't agree with you. If
the day never comes, you've been a lucky person. Lud never expected to have
his day come. He was lucky that he wasn't killed, but he still cannot remember
two hours of his life. That's very scary. To me, putting on a helmet is like
buckling on a seat belt in a car. It is a security measure, takes little time,
you hardly are aware it's there, and it gives a great sense of comfort knowing
you have done something toward protecting the only life you have. Not only is
it your life, but if you crash your head and turn into a vegetable the rest of
your life, you have also ruined many other lives with yours. Think of the wife
who will, out of compassion and duty, tend you the rest of your life. Think of
parents and friends who will mourn for the person you used to be. If you crash
your skull and brain, you have not just ruined your life alone. If you wish to
risk yourself, that is your business, but you have no right to ruin other
lives as well.
