LD ballot issue (long)

>There has been a concern over the years by AERC that some ride managers
>circumvent the system by putting on 25 mile rides and calling them "24 mile
>fun rides." This happens--how frequently? I don't know. I do know that in

Terry: Thank you for the information. Why not give us an option of
perhaps voting to make the LD rides limited to 35 miles or less? I just
don't go along with 0-49 miles. I've never seen or heard of a LD ride
being sanctioned for over 30 miles, and highly doubt that anybody would do
a 40 or 45 mile LD ride. It seems that the problem we are trying to solve
is that of rides that are usually under 25 miles?

I guess it is a feeling I get when I think that if we are going to consider
49 miles a LD ride then somebody better get out there and measure some of
the so-called 50's. ;^) One can only imagine the can of worms this might
open up.

I personally have not attended any rides (in W region) where there has been
a fun ride in conjuction with the regularly sanctioned AERC ride. Up until
the last year or two, none of the LD rides were sanctioned but they are now.

Happy Trails,
