     I just use duct tape.  It doesn't leave a sticky residue that I 
     am aware of!

The BEST thing I have found is to use a Cat grooming wire brush in the soft 
part of the velcro... actually... it works on both sides.....  I bought one 
just especially for all my velcro stuff and leave it in my horsetrailer.....
