feeding transitions

Question on feedings:

I find a little corn oil helps Mystery's winter coat come in nice and
thick and pretty (I'm guessing it helps, that is). If I can only give
it to him once or twice a week, am I upsetting the flora(?) in his
stomack and possibly upsetting it?

He will be going on grass Nov.1 and is in a dry lot right now. How soon
and often do I need to get him on some green grass before the
transition? If it is every other day will it upset him? He always eats
green grass when we ride but I know that pasture will be bright baby
green by Nov 1 the way things are going......

Thank you in advance!
