As to bad checks...
A ride manager once told me they do not send in results for a week to make
sure all checks clear. If one doesn't, they can call that person and if
they do not send a money order or wire to the manager immediately, that
person is not listed as a starter. I don't know if this is "legal" or not,
but it sure seems fair to me!
